YOGA- A BODY TREAT
“Your body is
precious, it is our vehicle for awakening, treat it with care”
-
Gautam buddha
Don’t you treat
your tongue with delicious food or treat your face with all the possible
cosmetics to look beautiful? Do you treat your body with that dedication? Well treating
your body with few stretches every day is as necessary as consuming delicious
food. Let’s help you with the surprises you can give to your body with Power
Yoga.
Power yoga is a
fitness based practice which helps you strengthen your body. As we see most of
the youngsters are inclined towards getting a toned body with muscles. Well that’s
their definition of ‘Handsome’ & ‘Gorgeous’ body. Today’s youngsters want
quick results in toning their body, not to misunderstand that body isn’t a
machine but a mortal being which needs right nourishment with right exercise. If
someone talks about Yoga, then for youngsters it’s like, ‘out of their league’
thing or elderly form of just meditation. But it’s not as simple as you think.
Meditation is the basis to regain the concentration and control over your
muscles, mind and body to perform Power Yoga. There is not much difference between
Power Yoga and Gyming. There are some major health benefits which Gyming might
not give, but yoga will so as to keep you happy and fit.
1) START YOUR DAY WITH MEDITATION
Meditation
has consistently shown to be highly valuable in mental health. Specifically,
the practice can help relieve stress and anxiety, sharpen concentration,
improve mood, increase mindfulness and boost energy levels. Getting into
the habit of Yoga is difficult, but try practicing the same for 20 days and you
will dedicate this practice forever. Try to concentrate on hearing the earths
frequency while you meditate, that is the time you gain full control over your
mind and body.
2) SALUTE THE SUN
Traditionally, the practice of
Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) was performed at sunrise, as a way to greet
the sun and the arrival of a new day. By being aware of the rhythms of the
natural world and practicing as the sun rises, we tap into our own natural
rhythms too. Many of us are so caught up in the world of technology and work
that we forget we too are a part of nature and this morning routine is a
reminder of our more natural state. It requires strength & dedication to
practice Surya Namaskar at sunrise and truly admire the light sun has bestowed
on earth.
3) TELL YOUR MUSCLES “MAKE A MOVE”
The
human body is designed to be in constant motion with all joints and muscles
working together to walk and move in an upright position. Walking regularly
upto few miles or jogging will help with gaining the basic flexibility that the
body needs. Walking can help you by strengthening and toning your muscles and
preventing muscle loss. Regular walking can strengthen your leg and back muscles.
4) BOOST DIGESTIVE FIRE
Hey there! Avoid junk and eat organic! Yoga’s sister
science Ayurveda states that our overall health is determined by the health of
our digestive system. We can drink all the green smoothies we like and eat
organic meals, but if the body can’t properly absorb, assimilate and use those
nutrients – it’s a little like putting your food straight in the rubbish bin.
By practicing yoga in the morning, the body’s metabolism is boosted, and so is
the digestive system or Agni, known as ‘digestive fire’. When
circulation of the systems is boosted and the internal organs have been gently
massaged by yoga postures, the digestive system is far more efficient at
releasing toxins and properly metabolizing the vitamins and minerals from our
foods.
5)
BOOST BRAINPOWER
Focusing early in the morning
may not be something we’re all accustomed to, but it’s significantly beneficial
for heightening our productivity and alertness throughout the rest of the day.
If you find it difficult to concentrate at work or school, spend some time
practicing breath awareness and a few mildly challenging yoga postures, and
your mind will have woken up in no time!
If
you’re not the type to jump out of bed to greet the new day, then this new
habits could make you one…! A dedicated morning practice allows those of us who
could quite easily sleep the day away to make the most of this time when it
otherwise may have gone to waste. Just as it’s the yoga postures we enjoy the
least that we really need to practice, it’s the disciplines we wouldn’t usually
choose that could really serve us the most. Life is short and it’s a pretty
precious thing, so rather than sleeping in and wasting the day, make a habit of
getting up a little earlier to re-introduce yourself to the morning time. A fallout of
addictions and sedentary lifestyle is loss of good health. Regular practice of
yoga techniques, in combination with healthy food, can help restore your
health. Yoga can aid in alleviating illnesses, as it helps increase immunity.
YOGA IS
NOT JUST A ONE-DAY PRACTICE; IT'S A LIFELONG COMMITMENT.
